Ergo Wellness Therapists


LYNN JACKSON, PT
Lynn has been a Physical Therapist since 1987. She graduated from Texas Women’s University. She has been the owner of ErgoWellness Physical Therapy and Wellness Center for ten years. She has specialized in out patient orthopedics and manual therapy for all types of musculoskeletal disorders and for cumulative trauma disorders. She is also a certified ergonomist and is a consultant to many large companies for ergonomics and ADA related issues in the Austin Area. She has provided training and has been a speaker on ergonomics and musculoskeletal related topics to different groups in the community and statewide. Her continuing education classes include advanced courses in manual therapy and on Occupational Ergonomics. She has also started her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She is married and has two children and enjoys swimming and all outdoor activities.
SHANNON HERRIN, PT, DPT

After attending the University of Texas in Austin, Shannon completed her Master of Physical Therapy at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2000.  She received the Clinical Excellence and Outstanding Academic Performance awards from her professors.  Shannon began her physical therapy career at ErgoWellness in 2000, and now serves as the Clinic Manager and works regularly treating patients.  Shannon completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy at Boston University in September 2006.

Shannon has extensive general orthopedic experience, with an emphasis on manual therapy.  She has taken additional coursework throughout her career in the treatment of the sacroiliac joint and spine, the cervical spine and headaches, Movement Impairment Syndromes, neurodynamics and nerve health, Functional Manual Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, advanced diagnosis and treatment of shoulder dysfunction and aquatic therapy.  Shannon enjoys the process of diagnosis and working with each and every patient to meet his or her personal and functional goals.  When not working, Shannon loves to spend time with her husband and five girls, swing dancing and reading. 
KATHRYN SMATHERS, PT, LMT, CKT1
Kathryn has compiled years of diverse clinical expertise since she graduated from years of diverse clinical expertise since she graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1982. She has traveled nationally to further her education in Aquatic therapy and is certified by the Aquatic Exercise Association since 1993. She is also a licensed massage therapist as well as a certified kinesiotaping practitioner.

Specialty: Kathryn’s expertise is in working with patients who have chronic pain, arthritis, total joint replacement, fibromyalgia, neurological, and sports related injuries. She is also skilled at treating pregnant and post-partum women with Aquatic therapy. “One of the greatest benefits of working in the water is that it is a fun environment in which to rehabilitate people. Water allows more freedom of movement, but also challenges the body in different ways than on land. I gain a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction from using the aquatic environment to help people achieve their goals.”

Personal statement: “Physical therapy is not only a challenging, but also a very rewarding occupation. It is important to me to listen to my patients, solve identified problems, and guide them toward their treatment goals. I feel fortunate to work in a field that allows me to facilitate recovery and improve mobility in others.”
Mary Hine, PT

Mary Hine received her Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1989. Since then she has accumulated years in diverse clinical expertise including acute care, neurological rehabilitation, strokes, head injuries, skilled nursing home, orthopedics and aquatic therapy. Mary remains active post-professional education with an interest in myofascial release and aquatic therapy.

Since joining Ergowellness in 2008, Mary’s primary focus is in aquatic physical therapy. She enjoys the opportunity to provide one-on-one treatments and help patients toward goals of enhancing function, mobility, health and wellness.
MONICA MCILVAIN, PT

Monica is a native Austinite who graduated from St. Edward’s University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology. She was a 4 year starter on the women’s soccer team as a goalie. She then graduated from Southwest Texas State in 2001 with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. She has worked in an outpatient sports medicine setting since graduation, with a manual therapy focus. When not working, Monica enjoys spending time with her husband and two children outdoors, golfing, working out, traveling and following UT sports. HOOK EM!
